NOURISHING COMMUNITIES: REHMANI FREE DASTERKHUWAN'S INITIATIVE FOR FREE MEALS

Economic hardships and high inflation are major causes of food insecurity in our society. It is a dire need to support food insecure people around us. Rehmani Welfare Trust (RWT) has initiated a compassionate program called "Rehmani Free Dasterkhuwan’s" (RFD). At the heart of RFD is a deep commitment to compassion, solidarity and recognizing that access to nutritious meals is a fundamental human right. This initiative aims to address the basic need of nutritious meals of people. It is planned to provide free food to needy people. Through RFD, RWT endeavors to nourish bodies and uplift spirits, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry in the area it serves.

RWT's dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to prepare and distribute meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity. These meals are served with dignity and respect, affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, irrespective of their circumstances. Operating in areas where poverty and hunger are prevalent, RFD serves as a vital lifeline for many marginalized communities through the following activities.

i. Whether it's providing cooked hot meals to all individuals on the streets, or offering uncooked food packages to struggling families (Ramzan package and delivery of food baskets in Corona), RWT's initiative ensures that no one is left behind in the struggle against hunger. It is pertinent to mention here that while rendering all these services it is ensured that self-respect of the individuals is not compromised.

ii. In addition to addressing immediate hunger needs, RFD also advocates for systemic change to combat food insecurity at its root. Through policy advocacy, community organizing, and partnerships with local authorities and stakeholders, RWT works to address the underlying causes of poverty and hunger, such as unemployment, lack of access to education, and inadequate social safety nets. By advocating for policies that promote food sovereignty, equitable distribution of resources, and social justice, RWT aims to create a more just and food-secure society for all.
